$59 oncetwo computersa year of updates included

Your files stay in a folder you choose, and every invoice exports to PDF.

Every license includes

  • Works offline
  • PDF, CSV and JSON exports
  • No account needed
  • Any currency per client

See it before you buy it.

Six screens from version 1.4, exactly as they look on a fresh install with the sample data.

  • Start a timer in one keystroke

Pick the client and project once; the timer remembers them tomorrow.

  • Turn tracked hours into an invoice

Select the entries, check the rates, and the invoice drafts itself.

  • Read your month in a minute

Hours, earnings and unpaid totals by client, without building a report.

  • Keep clients and rates together

Each client carries its own rate, currency, rounding and tax lines.

  • Put expenses on the same invoice

Attach the receipt to the entry and it rides along to the client.

  • Export everything, any time

Plain files you can open without Fernwick, ten years from now.

Your records stay yours.

Billing data is the record of how you earn a living. It belongs on your computer, in files you can read.

  • No account to create

Install, open, and start the timer. There's nothing to sign in to.

  • Files in your folder

Everything lives in one folder you choose and back up however you like.

  • Works offline

Track on a train, invoice on a plane. Nothing waits for a connection.

  • Plain exports

CSV and JSON for every record, PDF for every invoice and report.

Everything in version 1.4, listed.

Five groups ship today. The sixth is planned, and it's marked that way until it ships.

Small details that add up at month end.

None of these is a headline feature. Together they're why invoicing takes minutes.

  • Month-end review on one screen

Unbilled hours by client, sorted by how much money is waiting.

  • Rounding you set once

Per client, so retainers and hourly work both come out right.

  • Reminders you approve

A polite draft appears when an invoice is a week late. Nothing sends on its own.

  • A currency per client

Bill each client in their currency; reports total in yours.

  • Keyboard first

Start, stop and switch projects without reaching for the mouse.

Made for people who bill their own time.

If you send fewer than twenty invoices a month and keep your own books, it fits.

  • Designers and writers

Track by project, bill by the hour or the fixed fee, and send a clean PDF the same afternoon.

  • Developers on hourly work

Shortcuts for everything, rounding rules per client, and JSON exports you can script against.

  • Consultants on retainer

See hours used against each retainer, then invoice the overage without a spreadsheet.

Asked before buying, answered plainly.

Do I need an account?

No. Fernwick runs on your computer and saves everything to a folder you pick. There's nothing to sign in to.

What happens after the first year?

You keep the version you have, for good. Renew for $29 only if you want the next year of updates.

Can I get my data out?

Every client, entry and invoice exports to CSV and JSON, and invoices also export to PDF.

Does it handle tax?

You can add up to three tax lines per invoice, such as VAT or GST, at your own rates. It doesn't file returns.

Is there a refund?

Yes. Email within 30 days of buying and you get your money back. There's no form to fill in.

Can two people share a license?

A license covers one person on up to two computers. A studio buys one license per person.

Straight talk before you buy

Fernwick is built for one person. Team timesheets, approvals and payroll aren't in it, and the shared workspace on the planned list has no ship date yet.

It also doesn't connect to your bank or a payment processor, so you mark invoices paid yourself. If either of those is a dealbreaker, the 14-day trial will show you fast.

Hi, I'm Mira.

I freelanced for nine years and kept losing billable hours I forgot to write down. Fernwick began as the tracker I built for my own invoices, and it's still the only tool I bill with.

A few facts, since bios run long:

  • One maker. I write the code and answer the support email myself.
  • Monthly releases. Every one has notes you can read in a minute.
  • No investors. So there's no pressure to turn this into a subscription.
  • Plain files. If Fernwick stopped tomorrow, your records would still open.

Not ready yet? Get the release notes.

See what ships each month before you decide.

One email per release. Unsubscribe from any email.

Pay once. Bill every client from one calm app.

Try it free for 14 days, then keep it for $59.
